“The famous actor James Caan, renowned for his role as Sonny Corleone in the mafia epic The Godfather passed away this month, and this made me think of the Godfather trilogy. The trilogy and its soundtracks are legendary, and the scene I love the most is the finale where the Intermezzo of the opera Cavalleria Rusticana is featured. This piece perfectly concluded the tragic life, love and revenge of Michael Corleone, making the scene more powerful and sentimental. Interestingly, this piece was written by Italian composer Pietro Mascagni in 1890, 100 years before The Godfather Part III was made, but it worked perfectly with the finale.
